Tim Loehr
East Regional Director

About

Tim Loehr brings 15 years of financial services and retirement plan experience to the PenChecks Regional Director team. His career began with John Hancock Financial Services, selling variable and fixed annuities before transitioning to the retirement plan side of the business. He was soon promoted to Sales Director where he managed a sales team located in Boston, MA and Atlanta, GA, in addition to supporting relationships with key industry partners and Broker-Dealers for the firm. Tim later served as a Regional Sales Director for Northwest Plan Services (a Raymond James company), where he gained experience selling larger and more complex types of retirement plans. His role at PenChecks involves working with financial institutions, Third Party Administrators, plan sponsors, and financial advisors and consultants to provide distribution solutions that reduce risk, lower administrative costs, and increase efficiency. Tim holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing from Providence College and an MBA from Boston College.

Executive Profile

With 15 years’ of working for noted financial services firms such as John Hancock, Northwest Plan Services, and Raymond James, Tim Loehr has the perfect background to meet the needs of PenChecks’ clients and their participants. Yet, it’s his innate desire to help people that makes him ideal for the PenChecks team. As East Regional Director, he will focus on making the distribution process easier and more efficient for clients on the East Coast from Maine to Georgia.

“I thrive on helping people,” says Tim. “At PenChecks we provide proven distribution solutions tailored to the needs of each client. We also help their participants save for a dignified retirement by helping keep them on track to leverage their retirement savings when the time comes. Doing things to make people’s lives better adds purpose to my career.”

Do the Right Thing

When asked what influenced him to work for PenChecks, Tim identified several factors, including great culture and people, a strong brand, and the opportunity to work for a rapidly growing organization. One other factor that played a key role in his decision – working for a firm that believes in doing the right thing.

“PenChecks is recognized as an industry leader in this space, with innovative products and services that continually redefine the niche,” says Tim. “Equally important to me was the focus on always doing the right thing for our clients and their employees, respectively. That comes from having an executive leadership group that has a clear vision and a team who is dedicated to carrying out that vision in the best interests of PenChecks’ clients and partners.”

“It’s these company values that enable PenChecks to build long-term relationships with clients, and that takes trust,” Tim adds “I learned early in my career the importance of building trust with clients and constituents by listening to them, supporting them, getting them what they need when (or often before) they need it, and by always providing value to the relationship. I look at the people we serve as partners rather than customers.”

A Devoted Family Man

Tim and his wife Colleen are in the early stages of raising three children – Patrick, Lizzie and Shannon – all under the age of seven.  Most of Tim’s free time revolves around family activities, including going for long walks, outings on the beach, and coaching youth sports. A big fan of college basketball, he attends Providence College games on a regular basis.

Tim currently serves on the Young Professionals Executive Committee of the Genesis Foundation For Children. The nonprofit foundation provides funding for clinical, informational, and therapeutic programs for children born with physical and intellectual challenges and genetic disorders.
